Its that time again,
December is here,
The décor, the gifts
And good old Christmas cheer.
Cookies and candy
and hot chocolate too,
Duncan made eggnog
But why is it blue?
The baubles in boxes,
Tree ready to dress,
The lights are a bundle of
Tangled up mess
Daffy has found
His favourite hat
(that's a point....)
When did anyone
Last see the cat?
Advent has started
The calendar's there
The gremlins don't know the days
They really don't care
Gingerbread, peppermints,
Boxes of pears,
Traditions galore when the
Family's all there.
Chaos is swirling,
They're climbing the tree,
Someone’s unplugged the lights—
Who else could that be?
Mogwai are humming
Their cute little song
It's going so well,
so what could go wrong?
We no longer hang stockings
we learnt the hard way,
There were glittery poops
Right up 'til New Years Day.
Snow’s gently falling
(Or is that just flour?)
The gremlins ate all the cookies
we'd baked within an hour.
However you celebrate
Whatever you wish
Whatever the treats
Or whatever the dish
Special hot cocoa
Holly and pine?
Christmas markets
Or a nice hot mulled wine?
Gifting to loved ones?
A treat for yourself?
Advent calendars
A mischievous elf?
What makes you Christmassy?
Music or toys
Share all the things that bring you
All of the joy
So gather the madness,
The magic, the cheer—
Gremlins and humans,
We’ve made it through the year.
Wrap up the chaos
With ribbon and rhyme—
It’s Christmas again,
And we’ll have the best possible time.
