Courage Doesn't Need A Cape

You don't wake up ready
You wake up real
Half-finished thoughts
And too much to feel

No music swelling
No perfect start
Just a quiet kind of trying
In a cluttered heart

It doesn't look like the movies say
No big moment, no clean display
But there's a shift you almost miss
In choosing not to quit like this

Courage doesn't need a cape
Doesn't need a grand escape
It's showing up a little late
And staying anyway

It's shaking hands, it's "I'll try"
It's getting through, not asking why
It's smaller than they make it sound
But it still counts

No spotlight waiting
No crowd to see
Just you and the weight
Of what might be

And maybe you doubt it
Maybe you stall
But you move an inch
And that's not small

No perfect words, no perfect stance
Just giving this one thing a chance
And even if it's barely there
That effort still counts as care

Courage doesn't need a cape
Doesn't need to elevate
It's brushing teeth and showing face
On an ordinary day

It's "not okay" but still you go
It's quiet strength no one will know
It's smaller than they make it sound
But it still counts

They sell it loud, they sell it bright
Like courage always wins the fight
But most of it is soft and plain
And looks a lot like trying again

Courage doesn't need a cape
Doesn't need to conquer fate
It's getting up and facing things
You'd rather not create

It's every step you almost missed
It's every time you still persist
It's smaller than they make it sound
But it still counts

No cape, no crowd, no perfect shape
Just you — and that's enough today
