There’s a ribbon in the doorway, there’s a bow upon the cat
There’s a list of things we needed—no one knows where that is at
There’s a candle softly glowing, there’s a plan we nearly made
There’s a gremlin in the kitchen with a whisk and Gatorade
We’ve got cocoa on the counter, we’ve got flour on the floor
We’ve got “just one little thing to do”—and then a dozen more
Are you God or gremlin this Christmas time?
Silent nights or a crime scene vibe?
Holding it together with tape and cheer—
It’s the most what happened time of year
Are you calm and bright or feral and free?
Sipping your tea or climbing the tree?
However it’s going, you’re welcome here—
We survived another chaotic year
There’s a stocking in the ceiling, don’t ask how it got there
There’s a note that says “important”—no one knows from where
There’s a box that’s been rewrapped at least a dozen times
There’s a label saying “perfect” in increasingly sharp lines
We’ve got music in the background, we’ve got something slightly burnt
We’ve got lessons we keep learning that we somehow never learn
Are you God or gremlin this Christmas time?
Well-adjusted joy or festive crime?
Laughing through it, slightly unhinged—
Every plan is loosely hinged
If the cake hits the floor, we’ll call it a twist
If the plan falls apart, it was never the gist
If the gifts disappear, well—they’re somewhere safe
And if all else fails… we’ve got snacks and faith
So be God or gremlin, both are fine
There’s room at the table, pull up a chair, you’re mine
Whatever this season looks like for you—
We’ll make it through (we always do)
